The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 10 - Me, evil? Stop joking

A week passed by since Fury met with the anomaly, Natasha had reported everything that happened to him. He knew a few things of Kamar-Taj, but not too much, only that they were doing slightly similar things.

Fury had hopes for that Kamar-Taj would kill off the anomaly who called himself; Averill Kaiser. And if everything would go his way, he hoped that both Kamar-Taj and Averill would be both injured where they can't do anything in the near future.

Based on the damage left behind from where Averill vanished, the strength they can use is much higher than anything they have seen before. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Bruce Banner, these were the strong known people they have met, but none of them could do such damage in barely a minute.

Fury was sitting in his office, looking at the files spread in front of him with details of many people. But one word was repeated; The Avengers. Fury took the phone out of his pocket and called a number, it barely rang twice before the call got answered. "Proceed with the mission." After he finished what he said, Fury ended the call without hearing any response.

He piled up all the files of the team he was setting up, and after he finished that, he took out another file in the drawer of his desk that was locked with his fingerprint. The piece of file showed a picture of Averill Kaiser, the severe damages left behind in the city that is still in ruins and the small information they have on him.

It was now that Fury finally spoke, his deep voice sounded out in the room as a whisper. "You are too dangerous to be left alone…"

Deep in the Himalayan mountains was a school running, teaching those who are broken the ways of the Mystic Arts. None of the students other than Wong and Karl Mordo knew that the Sorcerer Supreme was acting different than normal. Because usually the Ancient One would be calmly in her room drinking tea and guiding others from time to time. But the Ancient One had barely left her room for the past week and the times when she left the room, she would hurry back without letting anyone in her room.

Whilst people were doing their own things, Averill was still standing by the window, gazing out of it. His usual smile was still on his face during the entire week. He didn't care that Yao would enter and exit the room, he could even feel her gaze from time to time, but as long as she wouldn't bother him, he wouldn't mind.

It was only after a week that Averill turned around, his gaze went towards the woman who was sitting on a pillow whilst moving her hands around as yellow sparks appeared.

A mocking smile appeared on Averill's face as he asked her a question. "Are you really a guardian?" He was feeling amused for some reason. People with power in the world would never allow someone that can endanger their peace to be left alone or alive.

And Yao understood what Averill meant to say without needing to think through it, she gave a nod before answering him. "Yes, I am protecting Earth." And before Averill could say anything, Yao continued explaining. "Let me ask you a simple question, if I tried to seal you or send you far away in the universe, what will you do?"

Averill raised a single eyebrow for a brief moment before his mocking smile turned even brighter. "Perhaps destroy this universe?" Averill shrugged his shoulders as he gazed at her with amus.e.m.e.nt. But Averill also understood what Yao meant by her answer. Yao knew that she couldn't deal with him, therefore, the only good way to solve it is to protect him from outsiders.

"You are rather intelligent." Averill told her with joy in his voice, but he didn't allow her to reply before saying. "Or you have seen it in one of the possible futures? What did you do at that timeline? Perhaps you tried to attack me, seal me or even send me far away? Perhaps you've tried everything?"

Yao didn't hesitate to nod. "In the many possibilities I saw, I tried everything. But in every scenario; you ended up destroying Earth, and later making this universe collapse. The only time you didn't destroy Earth and this universe were the times when no one bothered you. Yet not once in the many possible futures did I or anyone on this planet try to stand by your side. Which is why I am going to protect you, if I do so, you might not kill off humanity." Yao wasn't completely honest with Averill about this, she saw another possible future that was completely different to everything else she had seen, and she would never tell Averill about it.

"…" Averill didn't say anything as he listened to Yao, he could tell that she was hiding something, but nothing important and Averill wouldn't care about it. But what Averill thought more about was that Yao dared to bet on him to save humanity by just letting him be protected by her. Before a maniacal smile appeared on his face, the wooden entrance door of the room was pushed open.

Two men walked in the room, a black man and an asian man. Yao snapped her gaze towards the two of them. "Did I not order everyone to not access my room!? Karl Mordo, Wong, I thought better of the two of you…!" Yao's voice deepened slightly as she gazed at the two disciples of hers.

"Ancient One." Both Wong and Karl Mordo kneeled, but both of them were gazing at the man who was near the window, there was a malicious aura lingering around him. The two of them had felt it for a week, it was only now that they rushed in.

Karl Mordo spoke before Yao could say anything. "Sorcerer Supreme, why is there someone as evil as him here?! I thought we the Masters of the Mystic Arts protected the Earth from evil creatures!"

No matter how calm Averill was, he had a lingering aura that reeked of chaos and unmatchable strength.
