The Maniacal General With His Crazy System

Chapter 9 - Huh, are you calm or what?

A few seconds passed by, but no one appeared in front of Averill, this made narrow his eyes. Right before Averill was about to open his mouth and say something, someone suddenly appeared in front of Averill.

The figure wasn't of a human, but a beast. The moment the beast appeared in front of Averill, Averill got attacked with a huge flame that covered his entire body.

Averill's clothing began burning, yet his skin and hair wasn't even slightly burnt. Averill gazed at the beast in front of him, it was of a mere bird that could seemingly control fire.

The thought of his clothes being destroyed made his thoughts almost freeze and his fingers began twitching uncontrollably. The only thing that was holding him back right now was the thought of that the System could easily recreate his black military outfit without any worries.

Though, Averill would never forgive anyone that would touch his property, his only property; his clothes. Averill was about to move forward, yet it seemed that the fire vanished, and the beast vanished into nothingness too.

It didn't take long before Averill understood what happened, he could feel it, that the mere bird was sent into the Mirror Dimension with the Mystic Arts. And the only person that could hold the bird that easily would be the woman who called herself the Ancient One. Averill slowly turned his head towards the left and gazed at a woman in a yellow robe, sweat was running down her head.

The Ancient One had barely noticed that Averill was sent to Asgard, and that someone moved his portal there. But by the time the Ancient One arrived at Asgard, it had gotten destroyed and everyone was massacred, and the Cosmic Entity; Phoenix Force was attacking Averill. Even thought Phoenix Force attacked Averill, Averill wasn't injured one bit, the only thing that got destroyed were his clothes.

But for some reason, the Ancient One had a bad feeling. She gazed at the n.a.k.e.d Averill; his entire body was already scarred. Not by the flames that tired to injure him now, but old scars. There were thousands of small scars on Averill's body. And the Ancient One could see that Averill's fingers were twitching and his red eyes were changing from being conscious to an unconscious state of madness.

The Ancient One knew that Averill was barely able to hold his calmness right now. She hurriedly went forward towards Averill and gazed into his eyes. "Averill, calm your mind, don't worry, you weren't harmed, and I've sent away the Phoenix far away, it wouldn't bother you any more for a short period of time." The Ancient One tried to calm Averill's chaotic state of mind that seemed to constantly change from calmness and the madness that was hiding inside of him.

Averill gazed into the eyes of the Ancient One, he wanted to snap her neck for a second, but the very next second, he would hold himself back. "System… Get me my clothes back…!" Averill muttered in a low yet deep voice, his soothing voice wasn't anywhere to be heard, what was left was his toneless voice which didn't have any emotion in it.

And it barely took a second after that Averill said it, his military clothes began to reappear on his body, covering his scarred body. And the moment the clothes were on his body, Averill's fingers stopped twitching and he felt his mind calm once again. He could hold his maniacal thoughts in a corner as long as no one bothers him, but the moment anyone bothers him, his crazy side would appear without any hesitation.

The Ancient One kept her gaze on Averill for a while before briefly looking around. She looked around for a few moments before her eyes were put on Averill once again, she saw that Averill had calmed himself now. "Come with me, you won't have to worry about any of this, none of these things will bother you in the future." The Ancient One smiled as she pulled Averill's hand whilst using her other hand to make a portal to Kamar-Taj.

But even so, the Ancient One was thinking of what just happened, Averill spoke a few words seemingly to someone before his clothes appeared back on his body. The Ancient One had already known that something or someone was already attached to Averill's Soul, but she couldn't figure out what it was with the little knowledge she held as of now. Yet the Ancient One would remember the word Averill used 'System'.

Averill let himself being pulled with the Ancient One as his thoughts were occupied by other things. He didn't care where he was, if he was in a bloodshed of a massacre or in a peaceful haven.

Yet as his body was dulled to anything happening around himself, his thoughts were clear as water. He felt his surrounding change which made him look around briefly, he could see that he was back in the room of the Ancient One.

"Hey." Averill said as he put his gaze on the woman. "I don't like nicknames, tell me your real one." His usual sharp eyes were nowhere to be seen; his eyes were relaxed as he was casually gazing at her.

The Ancient One was still holding onto Averill's hand, she wasn't surprised by what Averill said, as he had said it to the S.H.I.E.L.D agent previously. The Ancient One hesitated for a mere moment before she let out a small bitter smile before replying to Averill's question. "I have not used my real name in a long time, as I had thrown it away the moment I became the Sorcerer Supreme." Yet her bitter smile vanished as she gazed into Averill's calm eyes. "I do not have a last name, and my given name is Yao."

Averill gazed at the woman whose name is; Yao for a few moments before turning around towards one of the windows in the room. He walked towards it silently, gazing outside of it to see the clear horizon and mountains in the background. "I will call you Yao from now on then." Averill continued speaking not long after. "You may leave if you wish to, I will stay here for a while." Averill spoke as he gazed outside.

"Don't you need rest?" Yao furrowed her eyebrows slightly, this reminded her of something in the thousands of possible futures she saw, that she had never seen Averill rest or sleep. He would always be awake, gazing at something for hours on end without speaking any words.

It took a few seconds before Averill shook his head whilst speaking. "From what I can tell, this body of mine will not sleep." He kept his words few, but he was speaking honestly.

Yao caught up on what he tried to say. Averill didn't say 'I don't need rest' or 'I can do without sleep', rather he said, 'This body of mine will not sleep'. This could only mean that no matter how tired Averill would be, his body wouldn't allow himself to sleep or rest. A small frown appeared on Yao's face as she quickly figured out what Averill meant.

In one of the possible futures that Yao had seen, she saw the span of twenty years of the future, but if that was true, Averill's body would go for as long as possible without sleeping.

And whilst Yao was gazing at Averill's back, she saw his head turn towards her, this time his calm and relaxed eyes were long gone, and his sharp gaze was back.
