The Resurrecting Overlord

As Dong Xian took his mind off the incident, he looked around his surroundings. He had walked into the Qing market that he used to frequent before. It was a bustling market, filled with the sounds of merchants hawking their goods and customers bargaining for good prices. It all sounded too familiar to him. Perhaps maybe it was because he was a merchant in his previous life? He wondered if he could be a merchant in this world. He had the marketing tactics used by his previous world. If he used them well, maybe he could amass a fortune and live his life as a rich person.

He dismissed the notion as soon he thought about it. What was the use of fortune if cultivators who had more power than you could just kill you and steal your riches? Also, he had the cheat code named Soul Bell. It would be a waste if he did not use it to it's full potential.

He shook his head, instead deciding to see if there were any materials he needed sold in the Qing market. The manuals he had gotten needed some materials for him to cultivate them. This market had some merchants that brought special materials for cultivation. That was where his parents had bought the rare materials needed for forcefully propelling Dong Xian's cultivation. The previous Dong Xian has tagged along, so he knew that they sold the materials here in the Qing market.

Wandering around the market, he spotted some interesting materials at a shop in the centre of the Qing market. As he moved towards the shop that sold them, he ascertained his suspicions. Even though the merchant looked creepy with a hood on his face, this shop indeed was selling the materials he needed. They were the Shadow Yin Grass and the Lightning Thorn herbs sold in the shop's display. One stack of the Shadow Yin Grass costed 5 silver pieces, while the Lightning Thorn was slightly more expensive at 10 silver pieces. They were both uncommon herbs, but were still cheap overall.

The merchant asked, "What do you want to buy from me, young man?" Dong Xian replied, "5 stacks of Shadow Yin Grass and Lightning Thorn!" This should be enough to practise the Shadowy Images Manual and the Heavenly Steps Manual respectively. Dong Xian naturally put his hands into his pockets to grab some silver pieces, but to his horror, he grabbed nothing. He gulped down his saliva as he realised why he did not have silver pieces left. The previous Dong Xian has spent all the silver pieces just before he resurrected! He had forgotten about this fact because of the numerous events he had experienced. He felt very awkward as he had already requested for the herbs. It would not hurt to have thick skin right now.

Eventually, after standing there shyly for a few minutes, scratching his head, he managed to stutter out, "Umm... I forgot to bring my money today, can you wait for me here first?" Dong Xian said before running away from the shop. People all around him were outraged. He had already said that he was buying the goods, then said he had no money. Any one selling goods would be angry. People who were also queueing behind

Dong Xian were also pissed. He had held up the queue for a considerable amount of time. However, the hooded merchant contemplated this situation. He was already at the middle stages of the Soul Stages, but he still could not see the cultivation level of the person who had traces of his disciple's soul. As he sold the herbs he had stolen from other cultivators, he mumbled," He must be a high level cultivator, but then why would he buy these low level materials for our Shadow Demon Clan's Manuals?"

Dong Xian looked in front of him. Ever since he had advanced into the spirit stages, he could move at shockingly high speeds. It took him only a minute for him to reach Dong manor. He had calculated the distance using the measures from his previous world. It was around 10 kilometres. 600 kilometres in an hour! Even the fastest mortal beasts in the world cannot catch up to him! He awakened from his daydream as he saw the sight of servants cleaning up corpses. The bloodstains were still there on the floor. It would probably take longer to clean up those. As Dong Xian saw his family and Yi Lian seating at another table near here, he rushed over to them. When he came over, he was bombarded with questions. There were questions pertaining to his cultivation and injuries. They had simply healed too fast!

Dong Xian only smiled and stayed quiet. The Soul Bell was kept stealthily in his clothes. It was not like other cheat codes which could be lost. If he lost it, the system would not be available to him. Hence, he had to keep silent in case someone takes it out of jealousy. His family noticed he was not paying attention to them and started to ignore him. Yi Lian still questioned him, as she did not really know his family and only knew Dong Xian. Suddenly, Dong Xian mustered his courage and asked," Can I have some silver pieces?"
