The Ruthless Dragon God

Chapter 20 - Weapon for hunting

Adam left after the conversing with Rex. But Rex here was in deep contemplation as he stood outside the shop. He didn't even see the village chief and his son Vivian enter the shop in front of him.

Here Vivian was pissed off seeing Rex not acknowledging him. Upset he purposefully stepped onto Rex's feet as he walked into the meat shop. "O... what the...", Rex woke up from the train of his thoughts with the sudden jerk of pain from his feet.

Seeing Rex in pain and paying attention to him, Vivian grinned as he ran his hand through his hair in a stylish manner, "Hmph."

Going inside he purposefully kept talking in loud voice so that Rex could hear it, "WOW DAD. YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST. YOU BROUGHT MEAT OF THE DEMONIC BEAST FOR CELEBRATING MY AWAKENING.

THIS SHORT SNOUT BOAR IS A DEMONIC BEAST AND ITS MEAT IS A DELICACY SOLD ONLY IN BIG CITIES. THE MEAT ALONE COSTS 15 K ...."

Marcus looked at his son in an amusing manner. Being the village chief he had received a detail report about the awakening ceremony.

Seeing his son's antics and the belittling of his son's ex-classmate, Marcus had a deep smile on his face. He just neglected his behavior and went to talk with the shopkeeper.

Rex knew that Vivian was belittling him. First he thought village chief might do something, but seeing him smile at his son's behavior, Rex grew very angry.

But what was the use of anger if you couldn't do anything about it. Neither could he fight against Vivian as he had more strength now that his spirit beast had awakened.

Nor could he plot against him, after all his father was the village chief. Who would want to make enemies with an village chief without any power.

But he understood one thing that power changes the way people look at you. When Keiran was alive, he being his considered brother had power in his hands even though the power was not his.

People knew about this and tried to please him and now the whole situation had reversed with the unfortunate events. Now he understood he needed one thing that is power.

Taking his money he walked to the village center, realizing that getting food would require money in quantity. And if he used money to buy food, when will he save money for the elemental stone.

Walking he saw, a fisherman carrying fish to the marketplace to sell. Seeing him, a bulb burned in his mind, "Yes... we get meat from animals and hunting them down would not satisfy my food demand but also I can sell animal meat in the market."

But hunting was another big problem. Fishing required nets, fishing rods and main requirement was a boat. So fish was no go.

So hunting animals was the best option of all. But to hunt animals one requires weapons or capturing equipment. Sword or spear was the best option as weapon.

Reaching a local blacksmith he entered the shop and started looking at his products. But instead of swords or weapons all he could see in the shop were shovels, hay forks, buckets, etc domestic equipment.

"Umm.. uncle don't you have some swords, bow arrows or similar weapons."

Hearing that shopkeeper started laughing, "Hahaha why would you require weapons over here in this lowly village. No use of making such things."

"But don't you even have some sharp objects?"

"Sharp eh? Here... " the blacksmith brought out objects from shelf and placed it onto the counter. "Here is a knife. This one for 250 and this for 225. But why do you need them for?"

"I want to hunt animals in the forest behind our village" Rex replied confidently.

But with only 100 bucks in his pocket he looked at the blacksmith with puppy eyes, "Can you give me the knife at 100 coins?"

Blacksmith smiled, "At 100... yea yea sure sure... Why don't you buy my shop itself at 100 coins huh?", saying this his smile turned into a frown.

"Come into this shop when you have money to buy things, now get lost." saying this he started pushing Rex out of the shop.

But as Rex was being led out he saw a two-handed stone hammer lying by the door. Managing to loosen the grip around him, he ran towards the stone hammer.

"Hey, hey this one here states it is for 80 bucks. I can buy it right." he looked intriguingly at the blacksmith.

"That one? That one is used for breaking stones and rocks in mines. You sure you want that?"

"Ummm yea. Ok I'll have that one." he handed the coins to the blacksmith.

"No refunds." Taking the coins from Rex, he picked the hammer and handed it to him.

Rex carried the hammer out inspecting it. It was a good Iron Hammer with a spotless Iron head fit upon a long wooden handle.

The handle was long enough that you could hold and swing it with ease equally distributing your weight.
