The Soul Of Lucifer

Chapter 31 - The Beast of the Forest (1)

Sun looked to the direction to which William pointed at and felt enormous pressure. It was like a mixture of feelings in the form of a wind constantly hitting his mind. Sun shuddered a bit. It came like a sudden burst of emotions, making him almost vomit.

"It's just getting started.", William looked at Sun and said.

"The demons always give off an enormous pressure - normal, untrained mortal being would've already broken down by even entering this forest. There are very few animals living here in the darkness and most of them are also demon beasts.", Talon explained.

"I vomited on the battlefield for the first time. The sight and this pressured feeling make it even worse.", Sara said and tried to comfort Sun.

True, this is nothing like Sun had ever experienced before. This is an entirely new feeling, but Sun was ready to do everything in his ability in order to ascend to the highest rank and live a full life. He can't be beaten here, so Sun mustered all his courage prepared himself mentally.

"Okay, the operation starts now! Everyone - on position.", William commanded and started his earth spell.

"Balazar Asfar", Wiliam whispered.

*Rizz*

A crack formed on the ground about 1 meter ahead of William, followed by a collapsing sound.

Sun could not see what was going on clearly since there was no lighting.

The demon beasts are more conscious of light than sound waves. That's what William told him before their departure.

"Alright, it's done. Follow me.", William said and jumped into the hole.

Sara and Talan did the same and also jumped into the darkness.

Sun looked down, but could not see anything. The hole felt like a gate to neverending darkness and

the spooky forest did not make the situation any better.

"Hew, alright! Sun! Keep yourself together!", he said to himself and jumped down.

...

The tunnel was small and narrow spaced so that they needed to crawl on the ground.

The moist earth touched Sun's skin, the silent of the underground made Sun feel a bit more secure and he started to feel better.

The disgusting vomit taste in his throat finally cleared up.

The four of them crawled for a few minutes before the tunnel got bigger. A minute later, the could walk normally.

*Zzzz*

"What is this?", Talan asked.

He stepped on something squishy and it made a mashed voice.

Sara walked to him and used her longsword to make some dim light.

The squishy thing turned out to be some kind of corpse - more like a spider corpse.

"Is this the queen we're supposed to kill?", Talan asked while wiping off the blood of the spider that got onto his trousers.

"Hm. This one looks like it and there are no lackeys - it's strange.", William answered.

"She was not killed by a Hunter. I'm sure of that.", Sara said.

Sun walked closer for a better look and saw the spider-like corpse on the ground.

Sun imagined how scary it would've been if this one was still alive.

"But this one was assigned as an A-class mission, meaning the spider must have been at least an advanced demon beast.", Talon said.

"Yes, but this doesn't look like a Hunter's act. Hunter's would never leave the corpse here.", Sara said.

"There is something even more frightening than the spider. We should go back and report this matter before anything dangerous happens.", William said.

In fact, he already felt a bit uneasy since he dug the tunnel. Back then, he did not feel and magic present in the nest, but he thought it might've been due to the high-classed demon.

The group hurried to the exit of the tunnel, but suddenly, the ceiling crashed down.

*Grrr*

A wolf-like demon beast jumped down with an excessive killing intense in its eyes.

The golden eyes of the beast focused on the group of Hunters.

"The claws! It matches perfects with the wounds on the spider!", Talon noticed.

"You're right! But, that means he's at least a high-class demon!", William shouted and panicked a little.

His plan did not work, everything he did was in vain and all because of this golden beast in front of them.

"Tsk! We can't just run away now that we know of this guy!", Sara said.

This golden beast was stronger than the Spiderqueen and it doesn't look like it was injured when he fought it.

The Demon Hunters can't let such a beast going on a rampage in the next village.

"Sun, you can go back if you want. This is a very critical situation and I can't let a youngster like you die in this place... You still got a bright future ahead of you.", William said and smiled wryly at Sun.

At this moment, Sun felt a bit uneasy and a little bit of scared, but he could not run away like that. That would be a cowards move in this situation, but Sun swore to protect his comrades as long as he was standing on the battlefield.

He took a deep breath and opened his eyes.

"Soul Origin: Activate.

Form: Lucifer"

"What are you doing Sun?", William asked irritated.

"I'm going to fight as well. As long as I'm standing here I will fight and protect you.", Sun answered with a cold voice.

After the transformation, his mind felt clearer with the Arcas boost. He also felt more confident with his weapons.

*Grrr*

The beast roared after seeing Sun's transformation and dashed towards the group.

"Attention! He's coming from the right!", Sara shouted.

*Swoosh*

The beast moved abnormally fast and tried to claw Talon.

A wall of earth formed right next to Talon, blocking the incoming attack.

*Arrgh*

The beast jumped back and looked for another opening.

"He's tough. Sara, Talan - three-person formation! Sun, try not to die!", William commanded and ran towards the beast.

"Okay!", Sara and Talan followed Will.

"Try not to die!", sounded in Sun's mind again.

"Hehe. Am I in the way or what?", Sun thought and smiled wryly. Then he lifts himself up in the air to observe the battle.

Meanwhile, the group of three are fending off the beast and it seemed to be an even battle.

"Okay, this is good. Now, we need to get him to the trap.", William said.

The three-person formation seemed to work well against high-class monsters. Sun watched them and realized his own lack of battle experience. He knew nothing about strategy, planning or leadership. He started at Will with an astonished look on his face.

"This guy may be weaker than I, but in terms of an equal fight I would surely lose.", Sun thought.

*Grahhh*

The beast roared again and jumped 30 meters backward and started to collect magic energy.

"****, he is going to use an AOE attack, we need to stop him!", Sara shouted.

She positioned herself with her longsword and slashed a shockwave at it.

"A sonic attack?!", Sun observed her, but that attack had no damage to the monster.

"Huh?! No effect? Its fur is unbelievable durable!", she said.

"How can we defeat it?", William thought out loud.

"The belly - there is one place where the fur is the weakest.", Talan said.

While they were fighting, Sun noticed a weak sound coming from the back of the cave.

It sounded like a baby - more like a little beast.

"Wait, could it be...?", Sun thought he might've realized something significant.
