The Very Best

Zed entered the Gym and noticed a rocky environment. It was a field were rock type Pokemons will have an advantage during battles.

There were also trainers battling and a cameraman recording the events.

"Oh, a challenger!" Someone shouted at the edge of the Gym.

Zed looked and saw a teenager with brown hair and eyes naturally appear closed. He wears a red vest with a black T-shirt with white short sleeves, blue jeans, and sneakers.

"I am a challenger, and my name is Zed Reese," Zed said, looking at Brock.

"Oho, a handsome man? My greatest enemy." Brock said Jokingly.

"I'm Brock! I'm the Pewter's Gym Leader! I believe in rock-hard defence and determination! That's why my Pokemons are all Rock-type! Do you still want to challenge me?" Brock said with confidence.

Zed nodded at him.

"Fine then! Show me your best!"

Then a cameraman aimed at the location where Zed and Brock was. The trainers that were battling stopped what they were doing sit to a nearby chair at the spectators' area. A referee entered an explained the rules.

"Each of you will use two Pokemons, and no one is allowed to switch Pokemons during Battle. The first to have all his Pokemons faint lose. Are both of you ready? Fight!"

"Geodude I choose you."

A Pokemon with a rock for a head with no nose, and two long arms that start with a bulging muscle and end with rock hands resembling a human's appeared.

"Frogadier your up."

Zed said calmly. The people were shocked, looking at Zed's pokemon. Their fight was broadcasted only in Pewter Gym. They haven't seen such a great looking pokemon. Some may recognize its species, but Frogadier was a shiny one.

"Geodude use tackle!"

"Frogadier use quick attack."

Geodude charged towards Frogadier with its head, using it to ram unto his opponent's body. Frogadier made a quick attack by running and jumping sideways.

The two of them collided, a booming sound sounded the area.

Geodude flew distance, hitting at a wall while Froagadier was standing in the middle like a King looking down at its enemy.

Their skills were too far apart. Geodude wanted to stand using it's bulging muscled arms, but it surrendered, leaving it knocked out at the corner.

The onlookers looked with their eyes wide opened, even the people watching at their house covered their mouth. They know Brock was a strong rock type trainer, but his opponent knocks his Geodude in just a single basic quick attack.

Brock recovered from being shocked. He ran towards his Geodude and comforted it.

"You did well. You can rest and recover." Geodude nodded and entered to his Pokeball. Brock then looked at Zed with a slight feared and amazement drawn on his face.

"Just by that move, I can tell that I don't have a chance of winning against you. But still, I as the Gym Leader will prove it to the residents that I will not shame Pewter's power. Onix! Fight till the end!"

A Rock Snake like - Pokemon materialized. Its serpentine body is made up of large boulders and little pebbles. It has a longhorn atop its head and small eyes.

"Onix use rock throw!" Onix then started to throw rocks found on the battlefield.

"Frogadier use a quick attack to dodge the projectiles." Frogadier was like dancing, leaving after images. Sometimes Onix though he directly hit Froagadier, but it was only an afterimage.

"Wow, using an attack skill for evading? Impressive." One of the observers said.

"Onix use Rock tomb to slow his movement!" Onix hurled boulders towards Froagadier, but unfortunately, Froagadier is fast as f**k.

"End him, use another quick attack then finish it with water pulse."

Frogadier nodded and rushed, leaving faint dark traces. Frogadier arrived in front of Onix's face and punched it with full power. Frogadier only a few a distance away but it was still standing strong.

"Hang in their Onix! Harden your self!"

Onix then used harden and strengthen its defence. Brock was expecting for another quick attack, but he was wrong. He heard that Zed commanded Froagadier a Water pulse attack, but with the tense fight, his mind was troubled in what to do.

Frogadier puffed it's c.h.e.s.t and released pulsing water from his mouth. Onix received it directly and flew away towards the arena's wall, leaving a massive crater from the impact it caused.

"Onix is unable to battle! Frogadier wins!"

The spectators cheered happily and clapped, the residents of Pewters Gym was proud of Brock for not giving up even the chances of him to win was very low. Brock approached his Onix and encouraged it.

"Don't worry. You did well. We will become stronger and rechallenge Zed." Onix nodded, closed its eyes and returned to its Pokeball.

Brock sighed then clapped.

Congratulations, you won your first Gym battle with flying colours.

The onlookers also stood up and clapped. They witnessed a strong trainer and not just that, it was his first Pokemon Battle.

"Well done, you have earned the Boulder Badge. You are a strong trainer, and I know one day you will be at the top. Your Frogadier is already strong, what more your other Pokemons,"

Brock handed the Badge to him, Zed nodded and grabbed the Badge respectively. Brock then spoke.

"One day, I will ask you for a rematch." He asked with his eyes full of determination.

"I would love to accept it. Your also a strong trainer." Zed then Nodded, he smiled at Brock then motioned a fist bump, Brock then bumps his fist and save in his mind to the future rematch.

They talked for a while then Zed said his farewell to Brock. When he left the building, Brock thought in his mind.

`Elite four, you must be prepared to face him.`

Outside the building, Zed noticed it was almost afternoon.

"I hope she will accept if I ask her for a date. I wanted to experience it once." Zed then walked to where Jenny`s office is.
