The Wizard’s Love Spell

Chapter 21 - Gryffindor VS Ravenclaw

The rest of the week was a blur. Thursday was normal, classes, notes, and her study session with Potter. Friday she took all those quizzes and then Quidditch practice.

Saturday was what she was looking forward to.

The first game of the year. Isabella wouldn't let Potter win this game.

"Alright team! Ready?" Darcy called.

"Yeah!" The team answered.

"We're gonna win this game, I know it. Now let's do this!" Darcy said as she lead us out onto the field.

We mounted our brooms, and met Gryffindor in the middle.

"Nice weather today for a game of Quidditch, out on the field today we have Ravenclaw Adam Smith as Keeper, Cal Leuze and Mary Hadens as Beaters, Darcy Barts, James Casey (aka Jace) and Lucy Wade as Chasers and their new addition, Isabella Dumont as Seeker." A student from Hufflepuff, Adrian Hughes, was doing the commentary. Isabella looked over to the Gryffindor team, and saw Potter staring at her in awe and surprise. She smirked back at him. "On Gryffindor's side we have Aidan Wade as Keeper, oooo looks like we'll have a sibling face off, Lucy vs Aidan, Interesting. Lillian Harris and Olivia Mares as Beaters, Noah Vales, William Knowles and Hazel Baker-as Chasers. And the famous Nicolas (Nick) Potter as Seeker. Madam Clovis will be refereeing this match."

Down at the field, she yelled up to the two teams.

"Clean and fair game, teams! Captains, shake hands!" Darcy shook hands with Noah Vales.

Isabella saw them say something to each other but she couldn't hear what exactly it was. The crowd around them was being quite loud.

Madam Clovis then blew the whistle. She threw the Quaffle in the air.

"And they're off! Chaser Barts quick to take the Quaffle, pass to Casey, Back to Barts, Vales goes in for a steal... and he wasn't able to take possession. Quaffle goes to Casey, and they're heading toward the goal! L. Wade open, Casey passes to her. Looks like she's going in for the goal, can she get it past her brother?" The crowd went silent.....

Isabella looked intently at the Gryffindor keeper.

"AND SHE MAKES IT IN! Ten points to Ravenclaw!!!! Ravenclaw has scored the first goal of the season, and the game. A very early goal for this team. Perhaps they'll break Gryffindor's 7 year winning streak!" the crowd had erupted. At least, those that were cheering on Ravenclaw. The Gryffindor side seemed to be shocked.

The play continued, possession switching back between both teams.

"Vales has stolen the quaffle from Barts, L. Wade is right on his tail, and Vales passes to Baker. Looks like she's going in for a goal.... and Smith blocks it!

"So, seeker, huh? Since when?" Nick had approached her.

"Last weekend." Isabella replied, not sparing him a glance. She was keeping an eye out for the snitch.

"Hm. Were you ever gonna tell me?" He asked.

"Nope. Never had to. You never told me that you were a seeker too."

"I suppose you're right... b-"

"Try and keep up Potter!" She yelled and zoomed away. She'd seen the snitch.

"Looks like Ravenclaw seeker, Dumont, has caught sight of the snitch. Potter, recovers quickly, chasing after her. Dumont is close, but Potter is gaining on her." Adrian was up on his feet, he looked very excited. "We're almost an hour into the game, Ravenclaw leads, 70-50. Potter right on Dumont's tail..."

Isabella wasn't going to let Potter win this.

The snitch was close, but not close enough for her to grab it. It was also getting close to the ground. Just as Potter was about to pull ahead of her she swerved in front of him.

"Dumont has blocked Potter from getting to the snitch." There were loud protests from those who supported Gryffindor.

"You're good at this Bella.... but this isn't my first rodeo..." Potter said, then he pulled up over her and dove in front of her. At first Isabella was shocked.

"Looks like Potter is about to grab the snitch!" Cheers from Gryffindor.

"Well Potter. This ain't my first rodeo either." She turned to go beside him. They were head to head. Potter's arms were longer, he was a finger tips length away from the snitch. They were also dangerously close to the ground.

There was only one thing she could do if she was going to beat Potter.

Isabella jerked her broom forward, closed her fingers around the little golden ball, but as she grabbed it she slipped off her broom, and landed a hard fall.

"150 POINTS TO RAVENCLAW!!! RAVENCLAW WINS THIS MATCH! A HARD FALL FOR DUMONT, BUT CLEARLY WORTH IT IN THE END!!!" Adrian's voice boomed through the speakers. The crowd erupted in cheers (and cries from the Gryffindors, although most of them were in shock).

While Isabella was still on the ground, the hand that had caught the snitch over her heart, the Ravenclaw team surrounded her. Jace knelt down near her.

"You Alright, Isabella? That was some fall..."

"Fine... I'm fine." She huffed and waved him off.

Darcy was frantic with excitement. She pulled Isabella up.

"YA DID IT GIRL YES YOU DID IT!!!" She yelled. Isabella smiled.

When she got up, her body felt sore. Really sore. No doubt she had a few bruises on her back and legs. But it felt like someone had just used her as a punching bag. The floor wasn't the greatest cushion to land on.

She looked for Potter, but he found her first.

"Looks like I underestimated you, Bella."

"Well I couldn't let you win, could I?"

"That won't happen again. I was just unprepared this round..."

"Sure, sure." She was about to say something else, but then Mira started to drag her away.

"We're celebrating in the common room!!! Let's go!" Mira exclaimed. So Isabella left Potter there, deep in thought about his first loss.
