[40XP consumed. Maga Fighting level upgraded to LV4! Constitution +0.4; Strength +0.4!]

[Maga Fighting level has been upgraded to LV4! Special skill unlocked: Tiger Power!]

[Tiger Power: Strength +0.4! Duration: 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, the subject will suffer the effects of enervation for three hours! Strength -0.2; Constitution -0.2!]

Thulhu was very surprised when he saw the unlocked skill.

He had never expected that a new skill could be unlocked because of an upgrade. The so-called Tiger Power was in fact a berserk spell!

Although there was a cost, it would be very helpful at a crucial moment.

His strength had now reached 1.5. For most people, the number would only be 1!

Therefore, killing some rats had become a piece of cake for Thulhu.

Soon, he came to the end of the sewer branch.

It was a dead end. The place stank so badly that even Thulhu, who should have become used to the smell down here by now, started to feel disgusted.

Thulhu lifted the lamp higher for a better look. The dim light revealed a body lying on the ground, some fuzzy creatures with red eyes gathered on it.

It was a corpse! A rotten corpse!

Thulhu frowned. Obviously, this meant trouble.

The rats were squeaking like crazy to scare off the approaching figure.

Thulhu wondered if it was the body which had caused the rats to mutate.

He looked around.

Under the body, he noticed a pool of dark brown blood. The smell of blood made him uneasy.

The blood might be the reason why the rats had mutated, and the reason why they wouldn’t leave. It wasn’t like they couldn’t move the body, so the body itself shouldn’t be the reason. Therefore, the blood was rather suspicious.

Thulhu was quite confident that he was right.

The rotten body definitely had some story behind it, and it had somehow affected the environment, thus producing mutant rats.

The mutant rats had some intelligence. They knew that if they left this place, they would lose the chance to evolve further. Therefore, they chose to attack the cleaner in order to stay here.

Was this the body of an extraordinary?

Thulhu’s eyes lit up, and he took a few steps forward.

Squeak!

To protect their most valuable asset, a couple of big rats instantly jumped at him.

However, Thulhu and Shawn had eliminated most of the rats. Now, only five or six remained.

Thulhu killed them one by one, showing no mercy.

The last half-mutant rat was nailed to the wall with Thulhu’s pickaxe.

Thulhu guessed that there were in fact more rats around than what he had seen, but some clever ones had probably chosen to finally run away, taking the rest of the ordinary rats with them after a great number had been killed.

Thulhu approached the body.

To his surprise, although this person had been dead for quite some time, the body wasn’t really rotten. Instead, it had become mummified and the skin had turned black.

The body was incomplete. The rats had consumed some of it.

Thulhu wondered why the mutant rats never thought to drag the body away from this place.

Unfortunately, he didn’t know how to interpret their squeaking.

He pushed the lamp closer to the body’s face.

However, it was already impossible for him to figure out the body’s gender.

It was wearing a long, black, hooded cloak which was beyond shabby. There was no way that Thulhu could tell the gender from the dry skin and bones.

Disgusting as it was, Thulhu flipped the body over with the pickaxe.

Rip!

The black cloak tore easily. After some rough searching, Thulhu found some things on the body: a few pieces of parchment and a small money pouch.

The pouch’s quality was good. Thulhu opened it and a few gold coins fell out.

These were… gold dragons!

Thulhu picked them up one by one: There were five in total.

A gold dragon was made of gold. There was a head of a dragon on the back, and the front featured William, Conqueror of the West. A gold dragon was heavy, and could be used to redeem ten standard silver eagle coins. If he used a gold dragon to redeem bills on the black market, he would even get ten to twenty percent more back.

Thulhu wouldn’t be able to make a gold dragon even if he worked for a few months non-stop!

In the past, Thulhu would have gone wild with joy and excitement because of the wealth he had found.

However, he now cared more about what he could find on the body with regard to extraordinary power.

Thulhu picked up the parchment pieces and tried to read them under the dim light. However, the language that the characters were written in was totally incomprehensible to him. It was neither common Heber nor ancient Heber.

Thulhu rubbed the thick parchment pieces gently with his fingers, and felt their unique texture. The black characters were like tiny, wriggly snakes. After staring at them for a short time, Thulhu started to get dizzy.

Thulhu had to search for some reference materials to identify what language it was.

Looking at this body, Thulhu sank into thought.

It was very likely that the person who had died here was an extraordinary. But if Thulhu reported this to the police, he would definitely be ushering in some unknown trouble.

Thus, Thulhu had to keep it a secret and destroy the body.

This time, Corpse Princess wouldn’t work.

First of all, Thulhu didn’t know the body’s gender. Second, the body was already incomplete.

Thulhu wouldn’t easily use the spell again after what happened last time!

The ritual could go sideways at any time!

This was an abandoned section of the sewers. Destroying the body here shouldn’t be too hard.

Thulhu looked around and noticed that the ground appeared to be dark brown and black in color. The color came from a mix of blood and soil. This mix, moreover, could also have contributed to the rats’ mutation.

Thulhu decided to shovel all the blood-soil mix into the drain.

So he instantly went back up to bring down more tools. He then started destroying the body.

Ding!

Suddenly, his pickaxe made a crisp sound as it hit some metal.

Thulhu was surprised.

He fiddled around a bit and found a piece of black iron shaped like a diamond. In the middle was an ouroboros pattern.

Ouroboros… Thulhu knew that according to legend, the ouroboros could signify infinity and the cycle of birth and death.

Thulhu had some basic demon hunting knowledge. He thus knew that the ouroboros was an important occult symbol, but the seven gods wouldn’t admit it!

This thing looked like a token or a badge to him.

Thulhu took the iron piece with him and walked out of the abandoned sewer in long strides.

Soon after Thulhu left, a fire cluster appeared in the location where he had found the body. The fire then grew more and more intense. In the end, the blaze finally devoured the entire section…
