Uchiha's Butterfly

Flickering to her estate Kaname noticed two young black-haired men standing at the front doors.

"Nee-san, we were looking for you! We have got a problem" Itachi called out to her.

"*Sigh* What is it this time? The old fools of our clan are still making moves to undermine us?"

"No- I mean yes, but that's not important."

"It's about me Kaname-san." Shisui jumped into the conversation, "After my last failed mission I activated the second form of my Sharingan. I need your help to understand it's power"

"Hmm, I can't help you with it now. Something bad happened and I need to go away for a two to three days."

"I'm worried Kaname-san, the power I received can do a lot of good or bring forth destruction in the wrong hands"

"How many people know about what your power is?" she asked.

"Itachi-kun and Hokage-sama. For now, the report of my mission is kept secret"

"Good, let it stay that way Shisui-kun, don't use them until we meet again, okay? We will help you harness your new-found power as soon as possible. I must go, see you soon"

"Eh, okay Kaname-san. Bye"

"Sayonara, Nee-san"

Entering her house she shouted out for Naruto, half a minute later, a very happy face with a stupid smile leaned out from behind the corner.

"Sas- *Cough* Sis! Why so early back ~dattebayo?"

"Something bad happened, I'm sorry but I can't take you out for ramen today. I must go to the Fire City for a couple of days." she hugged him.

"Ah! The super big city on a volcano, right? Can I go with you? I want to play with Mito-chan again!"

'Crap! Now, how to explain death to a four-year-old?' Kaname thought, after a moment she answered, "Naru-chan... Bad people hurt her, Mito-chan is… In very bad shape, I must go now"

"Sis, Mito-chan is … dead, like my parents, right? *Sniff*" Kaname observed as the corners of Naruto's eyes filled with tears.

"*Shh*" Kaname hugged the boy again.

"Can you promise me something ~dattebayo?"

"Hmm?"

"Can you promise you will never leave me Sasa?"

'Another landmine…' In response, she hugged him much more tightly, "...I can promise you that I'll stay with you for a long, long, Long time. Is that okay?" she only felt his head moving up and down in her bosom.

"Will it be dangerous ~dattebayo?"

"It won't Naru-chan, I'm going there just to save and heal people" she reassured.

"Okay, is grandma coming here?" At this moment someone knocked on house front doors.

"She is here already, go to her, I need to pack up. Love you" she replied wiping off his tears with her thumb.

"Hehe, love you to Sas- Sis!" he lightly laughed storming to the front doors.

A minute later she was interrupted again, this time by a black and white wolf-size dog.

"*Woof*!"

"Hami-chan! Why are you here? Shouldn't you be there with my mom?" Kaname scratched the dog's underbelly.

"*W.h.i.n.e*"

"Hmm? What, do you want to come with me?"

"*Woof*"

"But-"

"Her nose will help you with finding more people under the wreckage of the palace, Little Butterfly" her mother interrupted her.

"*Woof*" Hamimaru replied by waving her tail.

"Mom, but if something happened to you or Aniki-"

"We are safe in Konoha, the populace of Fire City needs all the help we can give them, go and don't worry about us Little Butterfly"

"... Okay, let's go Hami-chan. Bye"

"Good luck"

Approaching the Western Konoha Gate, Kaname noticed her team waiting for her.

"Sensei! Why did your clones order us to rally here?" Izumi asked.

"Emergency C-rank mission paid from my pocket. I will debrief you on the way, let's go"

The young trio barely kept up with her speed, after an hour of pursuit after their sensei, Torune called out to her. "Please slow down sensei, we're on our last breath. It would be counterproductive to leave us behind!"

Kaname stopped letting her genins catch up with her "*Sigh* I- I'm sorry. You're right".

"*Wheeze* So what's going on, what's the rush sensei?" Koji asked on his knees.

"Follow me, we will slow down a little"

"Demon! Let us rest!"

"Koji-chan, it's not even my fastest speed, I will ask Duy-san to bump up your stamina training"

"No please, Don't!" he replied following his sensei and the oversized dog.

Six hours later they were nearing the capital of Fire Country.

"*Tsk* It's worse than I thought…" Kaname commented looking at the city.

Once the l.u.s.trous capital was now destroyed, the palace that was on a side of the volcano got replaced by a deep crater, the side of the mountain has collapsed onto the suburbs burying a big part of the city.

'At least the volcano did not explode… Ah, why did I thought of that, three, two, one… Nothing?… It seems I'm lucky today-' her train of thoughts was interrupted by a voice coming from her back.

"Sensei, just to be sure I will repeat the plan. Three of us are to locate, save, and bring the trapped survivors to you and Izumi-san?"

"Yes, Torune. Hami-chan will roughly locate the survivor, with your kikaichū you will give Koji-chan exact position for an Earth jutsu to excavate the person. As Hami-chan is the strongest out of the three of you she will lead, go now! Izumi-chan, follow me!"

"Wait! How should we communicate with a dog, sensei?!"

Kaname rolled with her eyes, "It's easy Koji-chan. The bark is affirmative, a w.h.i.n.e is negative. Deal with the rest. Hami-chan protect them" she ordered.

"*Woof*"

"All of this was done by a single human?" Izumi asked worriedly after the two of them left their teammates.

"Yes, at least from the initial report. <Kuchiyose no Jutsu>" (<Summoning Technique>), Kaname summoned a small messenger butterfly with brown wings, attaching a scroll to its abdomen she declared, "For Hokage's eyes only"

"As you wish Kaname-sama" the kid's voice replied, moments later the butterfly flew away heading back to Konoha.

"Ready to save some lives for the first time Izumi-chan?"

"No, I'm certainly not"

"Good, you shouldn't be, for now, you will only assist me. Come on" Kaname smiled at the girl and entered the field hospital that was created on the other side of the city.

"Hi, could you lead us to the person in charge here?" she called to the woman's back healing a patient nearest the doors.

"If you are not Tsunade Senju- eh? Uchiha-sama?"

"Hi, my name is Kaname Uchiha, I came here as the relief force, have we met before?"

The woman dumbly nodded her head, "*Ehem* Sorry, I was under your command when you were escorting me and my friends to the west frontline"

"Ah, then it will be easier, so, who is in charge here?"

"Doesn't matter, I will show you where we need your help the most, I will deal with this paper-pusher"

"*Sigh* Sensei, aren't you too famous for your good?"

"Izumi-chan, I do not care about bureaucracy when there are lives to save. Follow me"

"Kaname-sama, the Twelve Guardians were hurt the most, half of this city medic corps are occupied, trying to keep them alive. If you could help us there, we would be able to free lots of iryōnin to help with civilians."

"Good, lead us there first"

Two hours later Kaname was able to help with four of the Guardians, going towards the fifth one she noticed Asuma standing in front of the operating room.

"So, Asuma-san? What the heck are you doing here?" Kaname asked with venom in her voice.

"Kaname-chan?! Ah, you want to join the-"

"Over my dead body, I should kick your arse for the words you spoke in Hokage's Office"

"*Sigh*... I know, I regretted everything the moment I left the doors. But both of us, I and Jiji, are too stubborn to ask for forgiveness first" Asuma sagged after remembering the quarrel.

"You will have a chance in two days, Jiji is coming here himself. Don't test my patience, I'm sure Kurenai-chan will come here herself to speak a word or two with you if she heard what you said to the old man"

"*Gulp* It won't be necessary. I will sort it out, I promise"

"I hope you will, now I need to go save more lives-"

"Are you Kaname Uchiha?" A squeaky voice asked behind their back.

"Yes, how can I help you?" Kaname turned to look at a short man with an outfit showing of his noble status.

"Daimyo-sama is calling for your immediate arrival to his residence"

"Can his Excellency wait for a moment or two? I'm saving the lives of his protectors at the moment" she replied sarcastically.

"Do you dare to question Daimyo-sama orders?!"

"*Sigh* Asuma-san, protect my little student for a moment, I do not want her to get into the nest of vipers yet"

"Sensei, but…" Izumi's words stopped when she felt a man's hand on her arm.

"Will do, stay safe Kaname-chan"

Following behind the noble, she was led to the small palace on the west side of the city, leaving behind all weapons that the guards were able to find, Kaname entered the royal chamber. Her eyes instantly noticed a frail-looking man, sitting at the far side of a room. He was surrounded by guards in samurai armor, his eyes shown fear when he looked at her.

'How someone so frail can lead a country, he is scared of his own shadow' Kaname walked forward and knelt in the middle of the chamber.

"Hohoho, the famous Kaname Uchiha, thank you for saving the lives of our subjects"

"It's my duty Daimyo-sama, unfortunately, I needed more time to save the rest. I'm sorry for your loss. If I may ask, is your esteemed father listed as one of the casualties?" Kaname asked.

"Umu, umu. Pity, him nor my brother listened to the warning"

"I'm sorry Daimyo-sama, can you tell me who warned you of the approaching calamity?"

"Hohoho, one of our biggest backers from Konoha, he told us that our family was alerted already"

'Mother f-. If the c.o.c.kroach had someone so powerful to do his bidding, why he did not attack Konoha already? Or maybe Danzo heard of what's coming and secured his puppet away? Hmm, could snake bastard clone Minato-sama? Ah! So many unknowns... ' Kaname internal struggle was hidden behind a poker-face, "Thank you Daimyo-sama, can I return to helping your subjects? I'm not sure for how long the medics will hold out without help"

"Nonsense Kaname Uchiha, our city has the best medics there are, stay with us for an afternoon tea" he replied hiding his mouth behind a decorative fan.

'He is a moron, not a leader. At least I healed Tōu-chan and Chiriku-san, it won't be my fault if the Twelve Guardians will become the four…'

Three hours later and another corpse among the Twelve Guardians, Kaname was excused to go back to the hospital.

After some time Kaname was on the second-to-last survivor, a tall man of tanned complexion. He wore simple dark clothing that matched his brown hair, long pants, and a short-sleeved shirt with black shoes. He also wore a red sweatband on his head. From what she heard his name was Kazuma. Before she finished with him she heard a commotion coming from the other side of the doors. After some questions, she understood that she was too late, eight survivors of the Twelve Guardians became six.
