Unloved: The Abandoned Beauty

Chapter 8 - She was going to die again?!

'They must be alerting the others and preparing to attack me... I should run right??' without a moments consideration, Colette had turned around to run back in the direction she came from.

However, she looked and saw the adorable chimp sleeping in her arms, it seems her motherly instincts were kicking in.

*sigh*

There was no way that Colette would leave the poor defenceless chimp alone, risking its life.

So, strengthening her resolve Colette turned back around to face the direction of the chimp's nesting area. She marched forward going deeper in, as she continued on she noticed that it eerily quiet. The tall trees loomed overhead, preventing the sunlight shining through.

'Too quiet...' Colette thought to herself. However, soon enough the wild hooting and what seemed to be cheering of the chimps caught her by surprise.

Colette saw how noisy the chimps were and oddly enough, they looked happy rather than angry at her holding the small chimp.

'Are they trying to deceive me?!? I know they tried to kill me before, no mistaking it. But this time...it really seems different?' Raising her guard Colette slowly approached, calculating possible escape routes if they decided to get her by surprise.

You didn't need to be a genius to figure out that the chimps were happy and pleased to see the little chimp safe and sound.

Moreover, Colette had spent a few years on the island in her last life facing these chimps almost everyday. She eventually became somewhat accustomed to their emotions, thus, being certain that they were happy and expressing joy.

Most importantly, chimpanzees were quite similar to humans in terms of their conduct, this is a widely known fact.

Back to the chimps hooting, it reminded Colette that they can be identified through their 'pant hoot'.

'Maybe I can find Bobo through his pant hoot? ... What do I mean maybe?? I can!! Haha that's a strange thing for me to forget, of course I can find Bobo through his pant hoot.' Colette turned her attention back to the chimps, choosing to dismiss the issue with her memory.

Colette halted and observed the growing number of chimps that were surrounding her. She started to grow anxious, sweating profusely, as more emerged.

Some hung from trees but many were on the ground surrounding her, they looked like an army closing in on a criminal.

Their smooth coats of black and brown coats of hair shined under the sun shining through the gaps in the trees.

Colette gulped nervously,

'Crap, why are there so many of them?!! The worst part is they keep coming, my escape path has been blocked! What a sticky situation...

Should I laugh or cry if I end up dying because I tried to do something good?'

She's died once and it was a strange experience, it's not everyday you die and come back to life. Colette has yet to fully acknowledge that she died and had a rebirth, yet she would die again so soon? (*cough* she was hungry before and put off sorting out her rebirth, from chp 2)

She didn't want to die, she finally returned to a peaceful setting without scheming people and threats. She was mostly free of harm, plus, she was exhausted and just wanted to rest. Well, it should be peaceful if whatever misunderstanding there was between her and the chimps from her last life didn't repeat.

So far the events have been completely different from her last life, the chimps don't seem to be very hostile towards her yet.

The chimps merely watched the creature holding onto one of the young, they were happy to see him safe and sound. However, they were slightly concerned whether the weird creature would return their young.

So, the chimps and Colette basically had a staring competition, Colette watched the chimps and they watched her.

It was deathly quiet.

Until a shooting pain going through Colette's head caused her to flinch and crouch down, holding her head with one hand she tried to take deep breathes to stabilise herself.

The chimps thought that she would fall along with their young so many started screaming and hooting. They moved in and tried to catch the young chimp if she let go, luckily she didn't.

The splitting headache continued to intensify, causing Colette to scrunch her face up in pain. Beads of sweat started to roll down her pale face.

'Argh sh*t my vision's getting darker... perfect timing for this to happen. Maybe this is a dream in dream and I'll go back to when Leo and I were happy.'

Colette slowly started to lose consciousness.
